A Note About Recent Delays
July 14, 2010
(I wrote this in the comments section, but I thought I should put it here too, where it’s more visible)
To my fantastic fans:
I understand the concern about the recent delays, but keep in mind I do this on top of my full-time job. I’d love to commit more time on this, hell, it’s what I love to do and I hope some day to do it professionally. But, as it stands right now, real life comes first. If you can believe it, I barely make over a dollar a day on this website.
Believe me, I’m just as disappointed in myself that I’m not able to get comics out on time. But the fact is, doing this in my spare time means that if any inconvenience comes up, like, say, getting extra hours at work, or a computer malfunction, or unexpectedly traveling to Florida for my sister’s dance competition and setting up my computer in my seven-year-old cousin’s room, it’s going to put some stress on the schedule.
I’m not asking for all of you to like the fact that I can’t always deliver. I’d be unhappy if one of my favorite comics couldn’t keep up, too. All I’m asking for is understanding. (And, at the risk of sounding like a money-grubbing whore, donating or buying a t-shirt… OR telling someone you know about my comic… would be AWESOME.) There’ll be a comic up tomorrow, and I promise, as always, I’ll put my best effort behind it. I’m truly sorry for all of the inconsistencies in the past, and I’ll try to keep them to a minimum in the future.
Keep readin’!

Hey, take what time you need. Real life is important, too.
I don’t mind if it takes a little longer; your comic is good enough to wait for.
My only concern when the comic isn’t updated is if you are alright. If someone can’t afford to support you (I’m in that camp as a full time student) then they really shouldn’t complain. Thanks for the laughs and I’ll be sending friends for now, and dollars later.
I used to be three days a week until real life played havoc with my updates for a good year. I kept starting and stopping as I tried to keep up with three days a week, but the comic (and fans) suffered for it. Eventually I relaunched at one update per week so I could rebuild, and it’s the best thing to happen to me in a while. I’m certainly less stressed trying to meet three updates I know I won’t be able to.
So it’s all cool, man. You do what you gotta do and don’t let the comic updating thing stress you. Real life isn’t going to wait, after all.
Fact: You’re giving us a brilliant comic for free.
I don’t see why you should defend yourself for anything.
I think we only have the right to demand new comics when we start donating every time we visit “Out at home”.
Manuel has a point. You should do subscription based comics! $15 a comic, or $750 for the year. It’s flawless. Readership would skyrocket on the one pirate site that paid the $750 and rehosted all your comics, -and- you’d be making TWO dollars a day.
Well, seems like legumious has solved everybody’s problems.
Don’t sweat it, Alex. Some of the cartoonists who do make a living from their comics can’t seem to consistently meet their deadlines.
Anyone who complains deserves a legit kick in the dick.
And that rhymes and you know it rhymes, admit it!
Hey don’t sweat it. We know that real life is more important than a comic. After all you need to make money (as in have a job) in order to survive and whatnot. So take your time. We don’t have any right to complain if you’re late with an update or if you miss one entirely. And if people do try to complain, well they deserve to be Sparta kicked.
Dude, keep up the good work & ignore all entitled bawlers demanding more frequent updates or questioning whether the legal ins and outs of situations are depicted accurately. If they aren’t, that might be a failing – were you writing a legal textbook. since it’s a cartoon it’s a success if it’s funny and it is. go nuts!
I’m new and I’m digging the comic. Life happens and none of us are paying a subscription to read your great comic. My hope is that this post was birthed out of self-disappointment (because integrity in what you do is important) and NOT because you feel you owe us anything. Either way, your livelihood comes first and genuine readers understand this. Be encouraged. Keep drawing. I’ll be back and so will the droves of us who give a damn.
Cheers.
