HELP ME GO TO TEXAS

June 21, 2012

OK, Out at Homies, here’s the deal.

I’ve been invited to EPCON in El Paso, Texas in September.  Awesome, right?  Well, plane tickets are expensive, which kinda sucks.  SO, I’m announcing a DONATION DRIVE to last… well, however long I can keep up with it.

“But Alex, you greedy bastard,” you say, shaking your screen with anger, “you already HAVE a donation button! Why should I suddenly send you money NOW? WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?”

First of all, calm down, chief.  Have a glass of water or something.  Second, There’s plenty in it for you!  As always, donate $5 or more and you get drawn into the background of a strip.  Also, special for this thing I’m doing, $20 or more will get you a black-and-white drawing of ANYTHING YOU WANT (Non-porn).  It doesn’t even have to be OAH-related.  You want Superman eating a bowl of Trix cereal? You got it.  A man with a giant mustache throwing a sledgehammer at a duck? Sure.  The earth splitting in two and revealing its creamy nougat center? Why the hell not.  Try to limit it to one or two people in the picture though.  (Unless you want to give me more money :) )

So yeah.  Donation button’s down there vvvvvvvvvvv on the left sidebar.  Thanks in advance, and please continue to enjoy my stupid doodles.

  2. Xydux says:

I can’t donate, but I will click on the ads more–that makes you money, right?

  3. Alex says:

Actually, my ads are pay-per-impression. But thanks for the thought! :)

  4. Sarah Vega says:

Is there a legal reason why you say only non-porn images or is just out of personal preference?

  5. Alex says:

Personal preference. I have no moral qualms with porn, but it’s just not something I want to draw, at least not through here and right now *shrug*.

  6. Sarah Vega says:

I’m not sure if I should feel disappointed or proud about that.

  7. Tsapki says:

Hehe, well Sarah, think on this. If he openly did say porn was on the table, chances are most of the requests would be for it. And then he would be exposed to terrible terrrrrrrrible fetishes to which no man who sees the light of day should be exposed to.

But I digress. I may need to look into this. Been meaning to do something for my D&D group and the last session sort of soured things. So time to see about winning back their affections with lavish gifts!

Would $50 be enough for a sort of action shot of four heros?

  8. Alex says:

    Sure, Tsapki. Thanks!

BTW, I’m getting to responding to those of you that already donated, my email was down today :P

  9. Yarin says:

    yay

  10. Yarin says:

do you have my email i don’t remember giving it to you

  11. Yarin says:

how can give you my email?

  12. Tsapki says:

Yarin, I think when you donate with Paypal, it should include the associated email. In anycase, if not, I think you can jsut send a message to alex@out-at-home.com and that should sort things out.

Now to see about getting a decent description for my characters…

Dang!! I’m from El Paso but I will be returning to school in August :( Anyway, it’s a pretty nice and laid-back city to visit. Depending on how long you will be in the area there are a couple places you should visit :

    1) Carlsbad caverns: A couple hours east of the Actual city but it is worth the drive. Humongous caverns that you can walk into; it’s an experience unlike anything else.

    2) White sands: Gypsum (I believe) sand dunes that are awesome for sledding down and just playing around in general. http://www.nps.gov/whsa/index.htm about an hour and a half north of the city.

    3) Hueco Tanks: World class rock climbing and scrambling, if that’s your thing. Take plenty of water, snacks, and you should be fine. about 30 minutes outside the eastern-most border of the city.

    Eating and drinking

    1) If beer is your thing then the Hoppy Monk is hands down the BEST place for beer in the city. I assume you’ll be staying around the downtown area (as that is where the convention will be held) and so it is only about 10-15 minutes north on Mesa Street

    2) Lastly there is no shortage of great mexican food restaurants in the city (it’s practically mexico; you can see Ciudad Juarez about 100 ft away or so) but the one place you have to try is Chicos Tacos. It’s a tradition but all I can say is that you’ll either love it or hate it.

E-mail me if you have any questions!!

  17. Yarin says:

    are you an ad bot?

  18. Adam E says:

@yarin lol, no I’m not. Just want to share the knowledge!

  19. Yarin says:

Ok cause it sounded like a vacation ad
