Seriously though, a HUGE thank you to those that came out and saw me at Connecticon, and to all the new fans coming to the site for the first time! Take your shoes off, don’t track dirt in.
What I find hilarious is that manga’s direct translation into English is “comic”. Anyone who insists on using a foreign equivalent of an English word as if it’s an entirely different concept is ridiculous.
It also took me a while to see he was saying manga. It thought it was just some weirdo drooling all over Alex’s table, maybe a homeless guy who came in to use the bathroom and got lost.
@ ryu: oh, no. Believe me, I have no cultural bias towards any artform. I do, however, have bias against sweaty weirdos who go to a booth with a giant banner with western cartoon faces on it to tell the proprietor that he’s not japanese enough to warrant his interest.
I just hope you don’t think that everyone who enjoys some manga is like this. It’s this kind of thing that sort of makes me ashamed by proxy, though.
I think you’re only open to scorn if you make the claim that manga somehow aren’t still comics.
I lol“d when i read Ponies as first category. xD
Where there that many pony cosplayers?
But what if someone cosplays a pony and is unitendedly androgynous?
And @James Rye.
You’d be surprised. When I went to the MCM Expo (The big one in the UK) Pony cosplays were far and away the most popular.
“Unintended Androgyny?” Eww…
Great band name though.
@Ozzie. Right. And when did I say that? That was rather exactly my point. Part of it, anyway
@James yes there were lots of pony cosplayers I should know I hugged them all
That guy on the first panel was me

I didn’t realize I had sent my donation your way a little late. I hope it still helped anyways.
Are you going to post pictures of the booth?
