School Play Pt.8. Joy
March 27, 2009
There’s one more strip in this arc that’ll go up on Monday- it would’ve closed the week if I hadn’t change my schedule.
To be serious for a second, unbeknownst to me, my high school theater teacher unexpectedly died the day I began this story. I’d like to dedicate these few strips to him and the work he did to help me and everyone that went through the Southwick High drama program. Van Farrier was a great man with a love for theater and teaching, and he’ll live on in the memories of every person he guided over the years.
P.S. I also, unintentionally, started the steroid story the day Alex Rodriguez got into that whole hullabaloo. I am never going to write a story about nuclear weapons.

Just wanted to say i really enjoy the comic. i don’t read many, linked on from an ad on Real Life, and have really enjoyed your work. Keep it up! I really like your artistic style. That last frame is brilliant – Kate’s smile is awesome.

lol I thought the “wig hat hair” was a nice touch
Ouch. Sucks to hear about your theater teacher. One of my friends rolled his ATV yesterday…
Also, please never do a strip about alien penguin invasions………… What? It’s one of those things that you never suspect will happen, but when it does, you’ll all be sorry that you weren’t prepared.
Dude, nuclear weapons are the least of your worries… we’ve already got those; we just don’t use them. I agree with MrGBH. No alien penguin invasions… or ferrets with a fetish for midgets and mildly disturbing theater directors. (Kudos if you can get the reference)
Maybe it works in reverse too. Do an arc about solving world hunger!
Also, don’t ever do a comic about crab people bursting up through the ground.
Wholeheartedly agreed with Trypno01.
You know, I think that there are a lot more people reading comic than commenting. Great comic, as always.
I got ur reference, Ivy. And great story, especially loved the trip down the stairs.
Gawd I love web comics. I never have the time to read them anymore. I don’t even know how I came across this one… maybe it was a link on Garfield Minus Garfield? I have a lot of comic ideas and have started drawing out countless story lines, but I never get anywhere with them.
Good job on your comic!
Do one on the digital transition, i want my HDTV broadcast allready!
Fainting…what a wuss.
I’ve got to say, the facial impressions on the characters have been done amazingly.
You totally need to do a storyline for a zombie invasion. Because it’d be cool.
If you do, give me a days warning to get my weapons sharpened.
I love Kate’s expression in the last panel. That’s the 6th most cheesiest grin I’ve seen in my whole life.
Going along with the running topic, other things you should do story arcs about; the world turning into Super Mario Bros., everything becoming free for the taking, an end to all violence in the world, and Blizzard finally letting out Starcraft 2. Seriously, it’s been several years, and they haven’t done anything.
Thing’s you SHOULDN’T do story arcs about; Left 4 Dead ::cause fast zombies is scay-ree::, the movies Alien, Total Recall, and Top Gun. Everything else is fair game.
I agree with the no zombies idea… O.O Although a zombie invasion will happen sooner or later, I would prefer it to be later so I have more time to prepare.
Holy shit I’d like to see a comic ark about nuclear war.
Sorry to hear ’bout your drama professor though.
