Please tell me Aldasir isn’t the same person as the psycho Herman set off a while back (See “It must be free!”). I know the hair is different but Herman’s was too back then >_>
It could still work as a holocaust reference; either he’s older than he looks or the relatives that may have been lost in the ’40’s are dead ends on the family tree (yes, you can drive through trees, but you have to be really tiny; redwoods are the best bet we humans have) so there would be a smaller extended family, so when a few relatives die they comprise a larger percentage of the family than they would in a larger family, thus “most” of his relatives could be dead due to a combination of holocaust and plain ol’ aging.
I didn’t see the reference before, but now that I do, I’m deeply offended. Alex, don’t you know how very Jewish I am? I’m not getting you anything for Hanaca this Christmas.
It’s not a dig at Alex, or a way to put down the comic; I’m sure no one would’ve commented at all on it if we didn’t 1) come to the site regularly 2) usually click and read the comments section 3) care about the creation of OAH! It’s just part of the law of unintended consequences, some stuff’s always going to have a meaning you didn’t envisage attached to it.
Although personally, I totally mentioned it because I like to kick ‘em when they’re down. That’s my style.
…It’s funny reading comics by people you know, with references/people you know and then seeing other people’s reaction, as I too once worked at the Place With The Blue Smocks…
I lol’d
(Also, typo in panel 2. “Fmaily”)
There’s also another typo in panel two. Should be ‘this time of year’.
Love the title text.
Fix’d
Goddamn Beautiful
you had to give into his request.

Yeah, same guy Bah. Are you gonna yell “humbug” while you’re at it?
Adam, I was already going to do this strip before he complained. And besides, I killed his family in this strip.
And yes, he is the same guy that yelled at Herman.
Holocaust reference?
haha great strip
No, johnathan, no.
…Oh, crap, that’s not what I meant at all. Is that how everyone is interpereting this?
Yeah… I was thinking it was kind of dark.
Yeah, I took it as a Holocaust thing until I read the comments.
Yeah, I was thinking it was a holocaust joke too
Holocaust? Seriously? The guy’s a bit young to have lost “most of his relatives” in the 1940s.
I didn’t read it as being holocaust related.
Nor did I. The fact that so many people did is just… well, disturbing :S

Don’t worry, Marcus, it’s not that big of a deal, I just wanted to make sure people knew it wasn’t my intention.
Oh, and legumious is screwing with you. It’s what he does.
Yeah I saw it as a Holocaust thing too.
Then I felt bad that I laughed.
…It’s funny reading comics by people you know, with references/people you know and then seeing other people’s reaction, as I too once worked at the Place With The Blue Smocks…
You know, I didn’t see it as a holocaust thing until the comments. Then I reread it and laughed… I should probably feel bad lol…
I personally think it’s a bad thing on my own part that I immediately link his lack of family relatives to the Holocaust.
Sorry about getting you worried, Alex.
I think it was just because I didn’t remember that he had been in previous strips.
Wow, I actually am Jewish and read this as a Holocaust reference… and still laughed, myrelativesaregoingtocomebackaszombiesandkillme >.<
Sounds like by his hand after work when he snapped more than anything
The alt text is EXACTLY the line of logic my mind followed.
The Holocaust thing, not so much.
